Bogene's Story

Eugene Williams aka Bogene is a songwriter based in Toronto. He started writing songs at an early age and had a 2nd place song in a local songwriting competition at the age of 12. He is consistently writing songs and believes the genesis of his songwriting began with writing calypso songs as a young boy in Trinidad. He believes his songwriting strengths are in melodies and lyrics. He has had a song on a new talent CD (Dreamcatcher Cafe' Volume II) in Toronto titiled "Someone To Talk To" and honourable mentions on more than one occasion for songs in the Unisong Songwriting International Competition. In 2005, one of Bogene's songs 'That Girl' was on artist Jermaine Maxwell's debut CD "Longtime". In 2011, a song written by Bogene and produced by Marcus Kane and Stan Stapor called 'Nobody But You' sung by Ottawa based singer Lola Spriggs went to #11 on the ACQB charts in the US.

Bogene is passionate about songwriting, having written hundreds of songs and recorded at least 50 songs. He writes songs in many different genres including Soca, Reggae, Country, R&B, Soul, Rap and Hip-Hop, Rock and Pop. He gives credit to his neighbour Mr. Clark who played a lot of music from various genres when he was a young child which had a great influence on his songwriting abilities. He has been a member of the SAC since 1993 and is hoping to take his writing to the next level by using all available tools in terms of social media and collaborations.

“Everyone's got raw talent for something. The success you gain depends on how well you develop that talent. ”
